Haniyeh Zamani

As a member of the WSUSOM Class of 2026, Haniyeh brings a fervent commitment to addressing healthcare disparities and fostering social justice within the medical field. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology from the University of Michigan. Throughout her educational and medical training, she has embarked on a journey fueled by a passion for research in health equity and global health. 

 

Currently serving as a Research Associate at the Opara Health Equity and Justice in Medicine Lab, under the guidance of Dr. Ijeoma Nnodim Opara, M.D., Haniyeh is deeply engaged in transformative work at the intersection of medicine and societal well-being. Her focus at the Opara Lab is ending race-based medicine. Haniyeh’s academic pursuits are driven by her dedication to dismantling barriers to healthcare access, advocating for marginalized communities, and contributing to the broader discourse on global health. 

 

Haniyeh is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in her medical education and research journey as she strives to make a meaningful impact on the world’s health landscape.
