Detroit Disability Power

Detroit Disability Power’s mission is to leverage and build the organizing and political power of the disability community to ensure the full inclusion of people with disabilities in Metro Detroit.​

Their mission is to provide accessible, high-quality information and analysis to drive informed decision-making.

 

FORCE

FORCE    (Faithfully Organizing Resources for Community Empowerment) is a culmination of interfaith, grassroots and public sector leaders committed to having hard conversations about complex community issues, pushing boundaries and generating creative justice oriented solutions. We leverage media and culturally relevant strategies to connect people least likely to be engaged to civic infrastructures.

Green Light Black Futures

Green Light Black Futures is a Black-centered coalition that is dedicated to fighting against hyper-surveillance, over-policing, and facial recognition technology in Detroit. The coalition was started by the Detroit chapter of BYP100, which is an organization dedicated to Black liberation for all Black people.  

They are invested in building community power through safety teams, political education, and changing the culture and conversation around what safety is.

Detroit Heals Detroit

Detroit Heals Detroit exists to foster healing justice for Detroit youth in which they are able to transform their pain into power. With a goal to combat trauma, we use healing centered engagement to share our greatest vulnerabilities with the rest of the world while simultaneously working to dismantle oppressive systems for marginalized Detroit youth.

Keep Growing Detroit

Their mission is to cultivate a food sovereign city where the majority of fruits and vegetables consumed by Detroiters are grown by residents within the city’s limits.

 

Community Development Advocates of Detroit

To build the power, effectiveness and voice of community development and neighborhood improvement organizations in ensuring just and equitable development that benefits all Detroit’s neighborhoods.

We the People of Detroit

We the People of Detroit is dedicated to community coalition building and to the provision of resources that inform, train and mobilize the citizens of Detroit and beyond to improve their quality of life.

HOPE Village

HOPE Village Revitalization is a community-led, community driven organization whose mission is to move the HOPE Village neighborhood forward in a way that mitigates disparities in wealth, privilege and educational resources. We pledge to collaborate  and be part of the collective working toward equitable and sustainable development in Detroit, and to be known as a model of excellence, integrity and community decision making.

Wayne State Law School

At Wayne State University Law School, they are passionate about the law’s historical, theoretical, and constitutional foundations. And they are as committed to what the law means for an individual or a corporation as we are for a nation.

For more than 90 years, Wayne Law graduates have learned how to apply their knowledge to enhance the quality of life, no matter the zip code, whether an individual is starting a new business or in need of expert legal advocacy.

Wayne Law proudly calls Detroit home, and every day, its students and faculty participate in the reinvention of this great American city. At a time of transformative growth, there’s never been more momentum on campus and in the city.

Eastside Community Network

Eastside Community Network develops people, places and plans for sustainable growth on Detroit’s east side.

Brilliant Detroit

Brilliant Detroit is dedicated to building kid success families and neighborhoods where families with children 0-8 have what they need to be school ready, healthy and stable. We do this by providing proven programming and support year round out of Brilliant Detroit homes in high-need neighborhoods.

NOMA Detroit

Their mission is to empower our local chapters and membership to foster justice and equity in communities of color through outreach, community advocacy, professional development and design excellence.

Detroit Equity Action Lab

They develop leaders who work to end structural racism in Detroit.

Wayne Health Mobile Unit

The Wayne Health Mobile Units represent the future of healthcare, providing ‘care your way, where you live and work,’ with the long-term goal of improving population health outcomes. Their mobile units deliver an ever-expanding menu of health care and social services directly to your neighborhood or place of employment. They are here to help you and they will be there every step of the way.

The Wayne Health Mobile Units are staffed by registered nurses, medical/research assistants, community health workers, patient & family health advocates, and overseen by physicians from the Center of Population Health and Accountability at Wayne Health. Their team offers a variety of free health screenings and services to their patients.

In addition to events hosted by their community partners, the Wayne Health Mobile Unit is bringing medical services right to your door. Their door-to-door teams are canvassing neighborhoods throughout Detroit offering health screenings for high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and kidney disease, COVID-19 vaccines, and COVID-19 testing. They also provide linkage to care in partnership with community health workers, as well as access to Mental Health resources. To see if they’ll be in your neighborhood, view our event calendar.

Wayne State CHECK-UP

CHECK-UP aims to promote relationships between WSU faculty and the community to advance health equity in the Detroit metropolitan area. CHECK-UP serves as infrastructure to facilitate and build mutually beneficial partnerships among academic researchers and community organizations.

Healing Between the Lines

Healing Between the Lines is a community led training program aimed to educate medical trainees on the impact of structural racism on the health of the community through the lens of Redlining and how to advocate along-side the community to amplify the their voices for change.
