Kaelen Patel
Kaelan Patel is currently a second-year medical student (M2) at Wayne State University, with a deep interest in pursuing a career in psychiatry. Her passion for medicine, and particularly for mental health, stems from a personal and transformative experience—the loss of her maternal uncle. His struggles with mental health issues, which went unaddressed and untreated, profoundly affected me and ignited my desire to make a difference in the field of psychiatry. She is committed to working toward solutions that improve care, support, and outcomes for individuals facing mental health challenges.
She graduated from Wayne State University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science (NFS). Her background in NFS has provided her with a solid understanding of the role nutrition plays in overall health and wellness, which she believes is an important aspect of mental health care. As she continues her medical education, she is excited to build on this foundation and contribute to the evolving field of psychiatry, where she hopes to combine scientific knowledge with compassion to make a lasting impact on patient care.
